If you follow our aftercare instructions and your new sod doesn’t take root, we come back and make it right — no charge. That’s the whole guarantee in one sentence. Below is exactly what it covers, what voids it, and how to make a claim, so you’re not guessing from vague “satisfaction guarantee” language the way some companies advertise it.
What Our Take-Root Guarantee Actually Covers
This is tied to a specific, defined watering routine you can actually follow — not a vague promise. It also assumes the sod was installed by our crew: fresh topsoil and proper grading under every installation, fresh-cut Ontario Kentucky Bluegrass laid the same day it’s cut.
How Long Coverage Runs
The guarantee is tied to the establishment window covered by our aftercare watering schedule — roots typically knit within 2-3 weeks, with the full watering transition (2-3 times daily down to a few deep waterings a week) running through the first 90 days. If your sod isn’t rooting properly within that window despite following the schedule, call us.
What Voids the Guarantee
A drainage or grading problem with the lot itself is treated differently — that’s exactly the kind of thing we check for and correct before installation, not something we ask you to diagnose after the fact. If you’re ever unsure which situation you’re in, call us before you guess. Slight yellowing in the first 2-3 weeks or visible seams between rolls are normal transplant stress, not a guarantee issue — a sour smell or mushy, slimy texture is different (see our overwatering & rot diagnosis guide).
How to Make a Guarantee Claim
Call us at (416) 639-1794 and describe what you’re seeing — photos help. We’ll walk through your watering routine with you and tell you honestly whether it’s normal establishment stress, a fix on your end, or something we come back and correct under the guarantee.
Why We Can Be This Specific
We’re WSIB-registered and fully insured, and sod installation is the only service we offer — not one line item among mowing, snow removal, and hardscaping. Because we specialize, we know exactly what normal establishment looks like on GTA soil, which is why we can tie the guarantee to a defined watering routine instead of hiding behind vague language.
Guarantee FAQ
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind every installation. If you follow the aftercare instructions and your sod doesn’t take root, we come back and make it right.
What voids the take-root guarantee?
Skipped or inconsistent watering, pet damage, DIY fertilizer or herbicide use before the recommended waiting period, and severe overwatering that causes rot all fall outside standard coverage. Lot drainage or grading problems are handled differently — call us if you’re unsure.
Is Sodding Company insured?
Yes. Our crews are fully insured and WSIB-covered, so you’re protected on your own property for the duration of the job.
Is yellow new sod normal, and is it covered?
Slight yellowing in the first 2-3 weeks is usually normal transplant stress, especially in hot weather — keep watering on schedule and it’s not a guarantee issue. If it isn’t recovering after that, it’s likely covered under the take-root guarantee — call us and we’ll take a look.
How do I make a guarantee claim?
Call (416) 639-1794, tell us what you’re seeing and roughly when it started, and send photos if you can. We’ll tell you plainly whether it’s normal settling or a covered issue.
Our crews are out daily across the GTA, Pickering and Toronto through to Etobicoke — sod cut the morning it goes down.
